Many years later, I’ve come to find that I was seeking inspiration from the wrong eight ball entirely. I doubt it even had a single word of positive reinforcement to offer from its narrow rolodex of comments. “ask again later,” or “cannot predict now” were the top two results, no matter how lovingly or aggressively that silly plastic ball was shaken. Even if I asked it something simple, like, “should I eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch?” it would respond with something dismissive. Maybe it was still in training as a psychic, or had some commitment issues, but I could never seem to get a straight answer out of that thing. Okay, in truth, my magic eight ball was not the greatest resource in trying times. Such helpful words of wisdom it dispensed on command! So many problems solved in an instant! That's just economically unbelievable.Did you have one of these all-knowing oracles when you were a kid? An insightful and sage advisor with a clear vision of the future, the magic eight ball was indispensable for an indecisive child like myself. And they pay like 3-7 million, which just barely covers your rebuy cost on some ships if you don't get it on your first try.Īnd things like pirating and smuggling do deal with illegal activity, and they pay even less on average. And that's what some of these massacre/assassination missions are like when you drop in on an Elite Anaconda and 3 Deadly Fer-de-Lances. I'd argue that, aside from legality, bounty hunting and massacre mission questing is more similar to contract killing in real life, in that the people doing these missions are not only risking their own lives, but also risking their own equipment, and also responsible for managing the risk for undertaking the mission.Įven if law was on their side, a single person wouldn't accept a hit made on some wealthy guy in an armored, gunned truck surrounded by an armed escort for less (a lot less) than the hourly pay of a commercial pilot. The idea that Navy seals and other special forces units regularly go on world-changing suicide missions is what makes for popular fiction like action movies and Call of Duty games. Navy seals are hugely valuable military assets, so the military takes on the responsibility of planning missions for a high chance of success and survivability. Navy seals are not contract killers they don't get paid by the mission and are not expected to risk their own equipment. I still disagree that navy seal is comparable, but thank you for your response. News, banter, CG & GalNet updates, and a bit of music too
